Shot through with sniper attacks, mass bombings and imminent terror, CBS legal procedurals ( "FBI", "S.W.A.T." and "NCIS") project a paranoid world view where martial law seems right around the corner. Bob may be smitten, but he's still a complete stranger, from a position of power, hitting on the help. Why is he single? Why are his children so boring? Why does he look older than his mother?Ĭlearly written as an immigrant love story, if not a love letter to a melting-pot view of American society, "Bob" seems blind to the obvious. But not enough to compensate for a lack of chemistry between stereotypes. There's something vaguely funny about Abishola's humorlessness. Love, or something resembling it, ensues. The mild scatology continues when Bob discovers that only the sound of her gentle singing can relax him enough to urinate. When a bout of gas turns out to be a mild heart attack, he wakes up to the vision of his nurse, Abishola (Folake Olowofoyeku), a no-nonsense immigrant from Nigeria. A strenuously awkward comedy, "Bob" kicks off with a fart joke and goes downhill from there.īob (Billy Gardell) is a gruff Detroit businessman, always on the lookout for new customers for his sock line. Fresh from selling repeat rights to "The Big Bang Theory" to HBO Max for a huge sum, creator Chuck Lorre presents "Bob (Hearts) Abishola" (8:30 p.m., CBS, TV-PG). She is happy to see Abishola wearing scrubs she once gifted her, but puts the ladies on her list for laughing at them as the episode comes to a close.Network television returns with a vengeance. Dele (Travis Wolfe Jr) offers to let Kofo stay in his room, but she refuses when he says he would like this deal.Ībishola and Gloria are saying goodbye to a departing patient when Kemi walks by. Kofo ends up staying with Bob and Abishola, much to her chagrin. Abishola tells him to switch the booze to water, which he says he did several martinis ago.īob brings Goodwin home, causing the cousins to continue to fight. They love him and wonder why he is still single. Later on, Kofo continues to play good houseguest by serving Ebun (Saidah Arrika Ekulona) ], Olu (Shola Adewusi) and Dottie martinis. They argue with Gloria continuously reminding them that they are friends.īob tries to get Goodwin to apologize to Kofo, but he refuses….even when Bob threatens to fire him. Abishola isn’t happy, but sets up the couch for him anyway.Īt lunch, the ladies are eating as Abishola complains about Kofo working around the house and Kemi thinking she cannot appreciate anything. However, they fight some more until Bob drinks some more and brings Kofo home to crash on his couch. Goodwin joins them so that Bob can help them make up. Goodwin and Bob get annoyed and leave.īob and Kofo go to the bar after work. The fighting continues with Dottie (Christine Ebersole) insulting Douglas and Christina. The two of them fight until Dottie tells them that nobody will get the office. This leads to a debate between the women and Kemi adding them to another list.Ĭhristina (Maribeth Monroe) is offered a new job and the office thanks to Kofo leaving, but Douglas (Matt Jones) wants it. Abishola has no idea who Lester is, but Kemi is more focused on the gift Gloria got Lester and confesses to keeping track of gifts people get each other. Gloria cannot attend because it is her and Lester’s anniversary. Gloria (Vernee Watson) and Abishola are sending a patient to surgery when Kemi (Gina Yashere) comes in to tell them about a birthday party for a coworker. She grabs the wine and blanket, storming off to the bedroom. The two of them end up arguing over how she shows her emotions. That night, Bob and Abishola (Folake Olowfoyeku) cuddle with wine, but he is more interested in helping find a way to bring Kofo and Goodwin back together. He is more than happy when he gets a thank you from Bob. Kofo continues to plead his case on how he can be helpful at the new building and ends up convincing Bob to let him stay. However, Bob wants him to make up with Goodwin, leading to an apologizing debate and a cute bonding moment with Kofo and Tunde (Barry Shabaka Henley). They want to figure out a job for Kofo, who is happy to be working with them. Later on, Bob has an inspirational note on his computer from Tunde, who wants to be more encouraging. They both give their sides of the story while Bob tries to get them to work things out at home. The episode opens with Bob (Billy Gardell) talking to Goodwin (Bayo Akinfemi) and Kofo (Anthony Okungbowa) about their feud.
